CLAMP is the all-female Japanese magaka group responsible for the creation of Cardcaptor Sakura. Established in 1989, the group began with 12 promising artists creating doujinshi works. Eventually however, members of the group left and CLAMP was diminished to just Ageha Okawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi - the four members we know today. Together, these women have created a number of successful works covering a broad spectrum of genres, gaining the group a wide fan-base. From dark and somewhat violent shounen titles (think X/1999) aimed at older audiences to light-hearted shoujo titles (think Cardcaptor Sakura) aimed at younger audiences and everything in between, CLAMP has the ability to create original and compelling works focused on plot and character development. With beautiful artwork adorning every page of their works coupled with the group's storytelling, it is no wonder CLAMP is not only popular in Japan, but also world-wide.
