Sakura Kinomoto, a fourth grader attending Tomoeda Elementary, introduces the reader to her life including the day she was 'tricked' into becoming a Cardcaptor. The enormous bird is in fact the Fly Card and when Sakura attempts to capture the card, she fails. That night, she has a dream about a bird that is hurt.
