Introduction
The basics

Cheerio!, as you may have read on the home page, is a Cardcaptor Sakura image gallery with over 50,000 high quality images. The image selection ranges from anime and manga images to screen captures and special/exclusive images. In over 150 categories, it is possible to find images of every character and couple in the series as well as group shots and movie artwork. It is also possible to find screen captures from every episode of Cardcaptor Sakura as well as from every movie, opening/ending theme, Kero-chan ni Omakase, video diary and special -- a first for any Cardcaptor Sakura-related website. In addition, you can select images and send them as eCards to your family and friends!

The Name
Behind the title

For those who are not very well aquatinted with the series, Cheerio! may seem like an odd name for a Cardcaptor Sakura image gallery. However, it could not be more appropriate! The Cardcaptor Sakura artbooks, which feature artwork from the anime series are called 'Cheerio!' and considering this image gallery features artwork from Cardcaptor Sakura, the name only seems fitting.

In total, three Cheerio! Artbooks were released. The first book features artwork from the first season of Cardcaptor Sakura while the second book features artwork from the second season of the series as well as the first movie. The third and final book features artwork from the third season of Cardcaptor Sakura as well as the second movie. It is possible to find most, if not all, of the artwork featured in these books right here at Cheerio! Just remember however that these images are best viewed in their original medium so be sure to support creator/artist and buy an artbook! (;D)

History
In the beginning...

Where to begin? Cheerio! has been in the making for quite some time -- since early 2005 or even late 2004. The idea for the image gallery first came about when I was in the process of creating a Cardcaptor Sakura website, which never came to be. Although the website could have been deemed ready to be opened, it was never seen by public eyes. Whatever the reason, the website was never officially launched despite the fact that it was over four years of hard work. Not wanting all my effort to go to waste however, I made the decision soon after to revive the one part of the website I had enjoyed creating the most - the image gallery. From there, Cheerio! was born. However, reviving the image gallery was no easy feat; it was a process that took nearly four years - a time period I would have never anticipated.

In the decision to revive the image gallery, I also made the decision to create the biggest and the best Cardcaptor Sakura image gallery ever, period. My goal was clear: collect every Cardcaptor Sakura image possible, in the best quality possible, and archive these in a gallery. What you see before you, in the form of Cheerio!, is the result of nearly four years of collecting images and taking screen captures. Even though I would like to believe that I have collected all the Cardcaptor Sakura images possible, the range of Cardcaptor Sakura images is virtually never-ending. Just like Sakura and her quest with the Clow Cards, I've done my best at my task with images and believe the results speaking for themselves: over 50,000 images organised into more than 150 categories!

Cheerio! was officially launched on 22 January 2008.

Previous Layouts
Looks no longer en vogue

Version I
22/1/2008 - 18/1/2009
Given the lengths I usually go through to create layouts, Cheerio!'s first layout could be considered simple, even plain if you will. The layout was composed of only a textured background, a swirly brush I had a tendency to use a lot at the time, the image of Sakura (extracted from the background), some colour adjustment and text. Put it all together and you have Version I. As simple as it was, it functioned as it was intended and was suitable for a gallery, making it successful by my accounts. Coding layouts for the 4Image Gallery System is - there really is no other way to describe it - a bitch, and this was no exception, which is another reason for the simplicity. The coding was kept to the bare minimum, with only the necessities (headings, colours, typefaces and so on) changed to match the header of the layout. There was the possibility of this layout staying around for even longer (it was up for almost a year!), however, when Mahou Shoujo re-opened, I decided to give all the network sites a matching facelift, meaning it was time to make way for Version II of Cheerio!

Up and Coming
Where do we go from here?

With over 50,000 images, how could there possibly be anything else to add to Cheerio? Believe it or not, I have quite a few images still sitting unsorted on my hard drive just waiting to be added to the gallery. These future additions will include extensive merchandise scans, production art from the series as well as other special/exclusive images. There is also the possibility of expanding Cheerio to include CLAMP's other series, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle as well as re-capping the series with high definition raws of Cardcaptor Sakura, meaning even higher quality, higher resolution images, and re-capping the opening and ending themes with textless versions.
